Not Dead Just Kidnapped
Things are moving! Episode 2 has been recorded and is being edited right now–it’s taking a little while because there’s some problems with sound levels. But it’s looking great: a review of Communist time-travelling FPS SINGULARITY, and Empire writer David Hughes stops by to discuss the knotty problem of why all movies based on video games suck.
Meanwhile James (me) will be stopping off at the Hide & Seek weekender this weekend (National Theatre in London) to play a range of pervasive and street games–look forward to a report on that in Episode 3. I’m running a prototype game called ‘Aliens Among Us’ on Friday evening; it’s like Werewolf with more heavy weaponry.
And also there’s this: the Team Fortress 2 Giant Laser Death Cat.
More news shortly after it happens!

And we’re now up on Vimeo and at Blip.tv, which will be taking the strain and pushing the episode out to other sites.
Meanwhile we want to know what you think about Kidnapped by Ninjas, how we can improve it, and the kind of things you’d like to see us feature in future episodes. Leave a comment here, or nip over to our Facebook page and join in the discussion there on which classic games we should retroactively award Gold ratings to.
The ninjas have landed!
Episode #1 is up! At the moment it’s only up on Facebook, but we should have a whole bunch of other watching options available in the next day or two. Grab a drink, have a watch, tell us what you think in the comments.
Back on schedule
Well, there was a delay. We scheduled two recording sessions for the first episode, and both times I had cancel because one of my kids needed to be taken to hospital. They’re both fine, thankfully, but here we are three months later and Final Fantasy XIII is no longer the new hotness. I’d argue that it struggled to be the new lukewarmness (we all hated it, pretty much) but I’m not sure how interested you’d be in hearing three people moan about how much they disliked an old game.
So we shot a new pilot last weekend and it looks aces, except I need a haircut. We’re discussing Blur (Bizarre Creations) and Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar), and some other stuff. It’ll be up shortly. And to celebrate we’ve managed to sneak one of our presenters into the latest issue of Edge magazine–see if you can spot them. In fact let’s make it a competition: identify which page of Edge the KBN presenter is on and we’ll enter you in a prize draw*. First prize is a copy of Final Fantasy XIII.
Second prize is two copies.
*This competition is valid anywhere in the world except where you are.
Advance warning
In the first episode we’ll be reviewing Final Fantasy XIII and, for a different take on people in improbable clothes waving swords around, Way of the Samurai 3. Expect controversy and possibly fisticuffs, which I will win because I am biggest.

Welcome to Kidnapped by Ninjas.
The blog is likely to be a bit threadbare for the next few days. We’d put in some heavy work on it, but being kidnapped by ninjas puts a kink in the best-planned development schedule.
More soon.
